About doshin
We’re excited about what AI makes possible. As it becomes part of everyday work, we believe human experience, judgement and connection matter more than ever. doshin brings the two together, helping people think more clearly, learn from one another and do good work.
The story behind the name
Dōshin, written 同心 in Japanese, has meanings including “same mind”. For us, it suggests different people coming together with a shared purpose.
That is what we want doshin to enable: people bringing different experience and perspectives to help one another do good work.
A personal note from Dave
I still use LinkedIn, and I’m happy to connect and share there. But as it has grown into a broader social network, I’ve found it less useful for the work I’m trying to do.
After forty years in business, technology and change, some close friends and I saw an opportunity to build something that could make a real difference. That’s why we’ve built doshin: a place to explore challenges, connect with people whose experience matters, and turn ideas into useful action. I hope it earns a place alongside LinkedIn.
We’re building doshin in the UK, with an outlook that’s open to the world. I want it to be a place where your experience stays yours, and your record and relationships stay with you as the way you work changes.
I love what AI can do. I also believe we need to remember our humanity as it changes how we work. People bring experience, judgement, care and responsibility. That balance is something I want us to keep in mind as we build.

The idea behind the network
A job title or a broad rating tells only part of the story. The useful questions are what someone knows, where they have applied it and how it relates to the work in front of you.
Different communities recognise different strengths. A member’s record shows the basis and scope of their standing, with room to review, respond and develop.
Ask doshin helps explore information, options and assumptions. People contribute experience and challenge the thinking; responsibility stays with those making the decision.
Experience matters, and so does how we work together. We’re exploring an optional way for members to describe the environments, working relationships and approaches that help them do their best work. We’re developing the idea with an HR specialist to help people have better conversations about working together.
Members would review their description, update it and choose what to share. It would reflect their own preferences, rather than a fixed personality label or a judgement of their behaviour.
You can seek help, contribute it or do both. Being employed, independent or between roles changes how you participate, not whether you belong.
